Hotel Dupont has been under the continuous ownership of E. I. Dupont de Nemours Company since it opened its doors in 1913. This ne plus ultra corporate showpiece has hosted several kings, many ambassadors, and thousands of other famous personages from around the world.
In the Brandywine Valley, midway between New York and Washington, D.C., the Hotel Dupont is only 25 miles from the Philadelphia International Airport. 24-hour airport shuttle service is provided. The lobby's unique high-relief ceiling, tall arched windows, and original artwork are typical of the superb craftsmanship evidenced throughout the hotel. The guestrooms, elegantly appointed with Queen Anne furnishings, have a residential feel. The large suites are decorated in a palette of soft pastel colors and accented with crystal lamps, chandeliers, cozy fireplaces and period antiques.
The hotel has two 4-Diamond restaurants that include the elegant Green Room which offers French Continental cuisine and the Brandywine Room which features classic traditional American specialties served in an intimate atmosphere. The cuisine in both the Green Room and the Brandywine Restaurant is classically prepared and served with flair. Specialties include an appetizer of fresh jumbo lump crabmeat and shrimp mousse shaped into a cake and served with champagne mustard sauce, and a Rack of Lamb with pecan nut crust and onion confit. Private dining rooms, with gold place settings, Waterford crystal, and lace tablecloths, are also available.
The Winterthur Museum and Gardens, home of the world's most comprehensive collection of early American decorative art and antiques, is a short drive from the hotel, as are the Brandywine River museum, the Hagley Museum, and the magnificent 350-acre Longwood Gardens. Guests may also enjoy professional performances at the Hotel's own Playhouse Theatre. |
