European style and charm are the keynotes of Wilmington's Brandywine Suites Hotel. The historic brick twin atrium hotel with fireside lobby was built in the 1880s and restored as a hotel in 1985. It is close to the Market Street Mall with its shops and restaurants and is within walking distance of the Quaker Hill Historic District, the Grand Opera House and the Playhouse. The nearby Brandywine Valley also beckons.
Each suite features traditional cherry furnishings and such convenient touches as in-room coffee brewers, microwaves, refrigerators, blow dryers and lighted make-up mirrors. Luxurious bathrooms offer a full array of toiletries and a private phone.
Guests enjoy a complimentary breakfast. Dinner is available at the Mediterranean Grille, with its upscale but casual ambiance. Guests recommend the jumbo baked crabcakes and for dessert, tiramisu.
The hotel provides business facilities, a full-scale conference room and access to a nearby fitness center. Service is intimate and "user friendly."
