Nestled on a hillside overlooking San Francisco Bay is Casa Madrona, Sausalito's most famous hotel. The original building, constructed in 1885 and known as Victorian House, has 13 accommodations. In 1980 it was entered in the National Register of Historical Places. Since then, 16 accommodations have been added with the construction of New Casa, a New England-style structure built into the hillside and connecting the restored Victorian above to Bridgeway Street below.
Each of Casa Madrona's accommodations has an individual theme. Most rooms have fireplaces and wonderful views of the water. There are ten honeymoon suites, three in Victorian House. The Rose Chalet, located in New Casa, is a honeymoon suite with rose-colored walls, pine furniture, and white accents. It has a fireplace, spacious deck, and bedroom alcove with a dramatic view.
Casa Madrona might be just the place for a small executive retreat or board of directors meeting. The Villa Madrona Suite has two bedrooms, each with a private bath, separated by a living room with a brass fireplace and wet bar. It offers a beautiful harbor view from three decks, accommodates 22 people in a formal boardroom setting, as many as 50 for cocktails, and can provide elegant lodging for two couples.
All guests are invited to the Victorian House parlor for a complimentary wine and cheese social hour each evening. Dinner is served in the award-winning restaurant, Mikayla, on a terrace with bay views through retractable glass roof and sliding glass walls that are open in warm weather. |
