The historic 4-diamond Furnace Creek Inn offers an inviting oasis surrounded by the towering mountains and chiseled canyons of Death Valley National Park. The mission-style luxury hotel, now over 70 years old, presents magnificent views of the area from the snow-capped Panamint Mountains to the salt beds of the desert floor. Constructed of adobe bricks, native stone, and tile roofs, the unique architecture of the 66 room hotel has attracted the famous and not-so-famous for decades.
The resort's 18-hole golf course, opened in 1931, was the first grass course built in the California desert and remains the world's lowest golf course today. It has recently been re-designed by Perry Dye. The swimming pool is fed by a natural warm-spring, uses no chemicals, and the water averages 85F year round. The gardens create a true oasis of grass, flowers, and date palm trees accentuated by flowing streams.
A recent restoration has focused on the classic look of the 1930's. The refurbished guest rooms offer balconies, stone terraces and some spa tubs. Meetings, weddings, and social events are welcome in the special Oasis area.
Enjoy golf, tennis, horseback riding, hiking, a massage, or just relaxing by the pool. Afternoon Tea is served daily. The Inn Dining room, which still suggests jackets for gentlemen, provides breathtaking views of the sun setting over the Panamint Mountains. The sky is crystal clear and star gazing is encouraged from the rock decks surrounding the Inn. |
