The valleys of Painswick are sheer poetry, and the village of Painswick rises majestically to be accorded the title, "The Queen of the Cotswolds". In the center of the village lies The Painswick Hotel, once the home of wealthy rectors from the village. The house is in the Palladian style, built mainly in 1790, and now converted to a delightful, privately owned Country House Hotel.
The hotel has nineteen luxury bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, and all are unique and individually decorated. Some have balconies overlooking the croquet lawns, while others have stunning views of the Painswick Valley. The dazzling fabrics, soft furnishings, antique furniture, period engravings and objects d'art, all contribute to a sense of well being. Guests will enjoy modern amenities such as direct dial telephones, remote control TV, luxury toiletries, baskets of fresh fruit, mineral water, and books and magazines.
Limestone from the Cotswold Hills provides the area with its wealth of incredibly beautiful houses, from the delights of Regency Bath to the cottages of the Slaughters. There are fine country houses, delightful unspoiled villages and attractions, and more!
The Dining Room prides itself not only in its elegance, but also its dedicated team of young, award-winning chefs who create delicious and tempting food. Much use is made of locally reared Cotswold meat, wild Severn salmon, and Vale of Evesham vegetables. All this accompanied by fine and carefully chosen wines cellared in perfect conditions. Start with a lovely Carrot and Coriander soup with Fine Herbs followed by Pavé of Salmon with Wild Asparagus and Scallop Cream. For dessert, try the unique Bitter Chocolate Mousse with Caraway Sauce Anglaise. Delicious!
Once guests visit the Painswick Hotel, they will want to return again and again.
