Cozy and enchanting, Sooke Harbour House was rated, "Second Best Country Inn in the World" by Gourmet Magazine and "One of the World's Top Ten Hotels" by Travel and Leisure.
The original Sooke Harbour House, overlooking the harbour, was built in 1920. The present owners renovated it in 1982 & 1997. Guests are invited to wander at leisure in the extensive gardens, where approximately 400 varieties of herbs, greens, vegetables, edible flowers and trees flourish.
All of the twenty-eight guestrooms are designed and decorated to reflect special aspects of West Coast life. The rooms are furnished with antiques and original art. Rooms feature balconies or terraces with ocean views, soaker tubs, thick robes and many other luxurious details which make the inn an ideal retreat for romance and relaxation. Some rooms also offer jetted tubs on outdoor patios, and steam showers for two.
Complemented by an extensive award-winning wine list, the menu in the four-star dining room changes daily, focusing on fresh organic ingredients. One might choose the Pacific halibut filet baked with apple cider vinegar, trout roe and spring herb butter served with cabbage-fennel ravioli, broccoli and banana squash, while enjoying a panoramic view of the gardens, the ocean and the Olympic Mountains.
Guests are pampered with complimentary breakfast brought to their rooms at the hour indicated the night before. Lunch packed for a picnic is also included in the room rate during full and high seasons. Cookies and Port are replenished daily in the rooms.
An extensive Art Gallery, showcasing over 100 local artists, and a Gift Shop are also located within the hotel.
Sooke Harbour House can accommodate up to seventy guests for conferences, reunions, corporate retreats or weddings. They have a wide variety of meeting and discussion rooms available. They offer the Potlatch room and the Garden room, which can each accommodate groups up to 70. May through September, the elegant Summer Pavilion is also available, accommodating groups of up to 125 and is perfect for magical weddings. |
